Pushkar - Rajasthan - India

Pushkar is one of the oldest cities of India. Pushkar lies on the shore of Pushkar Lake. The date of its actual origin is not known, but legend associates Lord Brahma with its creation. Well, that is what is says in Wikipedia, but when we arrived we discovered that the lake has almost dried up! The city is a holy place for Indians so it gets many foreign and local tourist that come to visit the only Brahman temple in the world and bathe in the "water". There is no meat, alcohol, eggs, or kissing allowed in the city of Pushkar! It is a cute town though with one main road that goes around the lake. There are shops that line the streets and we spent our days just walking around, shopping a little, and trying to stay cool! We took a sunset camel ride one day and that was really fun to get out of the city and into the desert .

The streets of Pushkar
Typical Indian woman shopping.....I swear that is all they do! The men work and the women shop!

More women shopping!

Cows are everywhere in India, even though we have spent one month here and see them everyday they still make us laugh!

One of the many men walking around playing their sitars.

Our favorite restaurant in Pushkar, we eat here 3 meals a day! This is the charismatic chef!

This is his sandwich wrap that he has on the grill to pull you in!

The dried up lake :(

More of the dried up lake-

The black faced langur-

Camel ride out into the desert!

Our camels kissing!

Agustin's camel was 5 years old, and they typically live until 25-28 years old. A healthy camel sells for about $250.

My camel was just a baby at 3 years old, but far bigger than Agustin's camel!

These two trees have grown together, it looks like one is hugging the other!

A typical bus! There is always room for ONE more!

The sun setting over Pushkar's desert

Heading back, our camel tour guide hopped on the camel for the ride back!

50.5 grados!!!!!!!

At 2:47 today it was 123 degrees!!!
