The Bolaven Plateu - Laos

We decided to rent a motorbike and head East to the Bolaven Plateu famous for its coffee plantations, cooler weather, and waterfalls! Something we have learned about Lao is that everyone and everything live as ONE here. They share space with one another. The houses here are up on stilts so under the houses the kids and animals run freely! Pigs, dogs, chickens, cows, goats, cats and the occational monkey can be seen in the streets, under houses, in the cities, anywhere. They roam freely!!

Cows!! MOOOOOOOOOOO!

Walking to the waterfal, we met a drunk German along the path!

Tad Faek waterfall

Taken from the back of the bike!

Look mom, we are wearing helmets!!

A friendly pig just walking in the road.....Agustin beeped, but the pig didnt care!
We stopped to get a drink between Pas Song and Tad Katamtok and we were invited inside by some locals for some beers! We met the head of the village and he insisted on cheers-ing us about 10 times while drinking our small glass of beer! We also met the local principal, who explained that the village leader insisted the principal relax alittle so he took him out for some drinks!

A resort that has been built around the Tad Pasuam waterfall, it is a eco friendly resort and all trees used were bought at an auction- used, not cut down to freshly to build the resort. The buildings were tree-house like and super cool!! We didnt sleep here, just stopped by to look!

A famous Wat in Pakse, monks live and study here.

The front of the same wat! Wat? Wat?

Champasak - Laos

December 26, 2009- leaving 4000 Islands and heading North to Champasak. We got about 10 yards then we got a flat!!

Wat Phu

Wat Phu, the reason we came to Champasak, which involved a bus, a boat, and two tuk tuks(motorcycle pulling 2 benches)

I look SO excited to be at Wat Phu!

The sun going down at Wat Phu!

The town of Champasak, it was a one street town with little going on. Our dinner consisted of finding a woman pushing a cart down the road, she had "mystery meat" on sticks, and other sorts of food. We baught almost all her BBQ! Our guesthouse, housed more than people....we had many creatures sharing our room with us.....didn't sleep well!
